World Car Free Weekend 2024: How to Ride Transit - a Guided Experience

Are you unfamiliar with the intricacies of riding public transportation around Sarasota? During this hour long class, we’ll take a quick trip on Route 99 to Indian Beach (and earn some scavenger hunt points while we’re at it!). You’ll learn about:

  • Tracking the bus online

  • Using the fare machine

  • Bringing a bike on the bus

  • Requesting a stop

Scavenger hunt points include Downtown Sarasota (50 pts), Indian Beach (75 pts), Breeze Transit Downtown Transfer Station (25 pts), and Shelf Indulgence Used Book Cafe (35 pts) [Total of 150 pts]

Sign up is not required, but spots are first come, first serve. Participants must bring $3 in cash for the round-trip bus fare; change is not provided except in the form of Breeze change cards, which are valid on Breeze buses only. Meeting place is at the Sarasota Mobility Alliance info tent at the Sarasota Farmers’ Market, located at the corner of Lemon Avenue and First Street - bus departs at 12:15 PM.
